Fighting for Fairness, Building a Stronger Future

Two terms as MGEU President, I’ve worked collectively with activists, members and staff to advance the interests of our members. Recognizing the importance of preparation, we modernized our strike strategies to address the challenges of today’s labor landscape. Together, we successfully secured numerous gains for our members and all public sector workers. With these new tools we achieved the first-ever Civil Service strike mandate—a historic moment that underscored the strength of our collective voice.

Through shared efforts, we’ve welcomed more than 1,500 new members to the MGEU, expanded our servicing team, and reshaped communications to align with members’ wants and needs. Protecting public services has remained central to our work; we collaborated to fight privatization and engaged government officials to advocate for public sector safety and accountability. And at the bargaining table, we’ve achieved stronger deals for locals by fostering solidarity within our union and across unions.

Listening to members has been a cornerstone of our success. By valuing each voice and working collaboratively, we’ve strengthened the union and achieved meaningful results. This collective approach ensures that every member’s concerns and ideas contribute to building a more united and effective MGEU.
